TCU junior distance runner Dani Selner once again sat down with GoFrogs.com this week and gave fans an inside look into the squad heading into the MWC Cross Country Championships. This is the third installment of Selner's weekly journal.
Selner's Third Journal
My one hope for this weekend is that we will leave everything out on the course. The one thing I always hear after races is that I should've stayed with her or I had so much at the end left. It's so fustrating to hear it again and again. For our top-eight who have worked so hard to secure a spot, I hope that no doubts, negative thoughts or second-thinking passes through anyone's minds while running. One thing Coach Winget is always telling us is to just run and don't think, and it's the one true saying that has stuck with me this season. All the little things like getting enough sleep and eating right will mean nothing if we second guess our abilities. Why not have something to show for it at the end of the day? When that moment comes we need to trust our training and just run.
I'm very hopeful that if we run like we are capable of then we can run away with a third-place finish. I believe that the work we have put in since August will set us up for a fighting chance and possibly a big surprise.
Run with confidence in the training you have recieved and you will do no less than instant gratification. Who doesn't like a little of that every now and then?
