TCU women's basketball director of operations Sandora Irvin and fellow former Lady Frog great Adrianne Ross begin play with the San Antonio Silver Stars in the WNBA Finals on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. The series opener against the Detroit Shock can be seen live on ESPN2 at 6:30 p.m.
The Silver Stars, winners of the WNBA's Western Conference, will face the Eastern Conference champion Shock in a best-of-five-games Finals series. Each of the first two contests will be held in San Antonio with a decisive fifth game also being contested in the Lone Star State, if necessary. Each game will be broadcast live by ESPN2.
Irvin, Ross and the Silver Stars reached the WNBA Finals after rallying from the brink of elimination during a three-game set with the Los Angeles Sparks last week. After dropping the first game of the conference finals at home, San Antonio won a one-point thriller over the Sparks in L.A., followed by a four-point victory in the decisive game three.
The berth marks the first WNBA Finals appearance not only for the Silver Stars, but also for both Irvin and Ross. Irvin is in her second season with the squad and her fourth professional season overall. Ross, who initially made the team out of training camp prior to being cut early in the season, has been with the team for the past month after being picked back up on Sept. 3.
