DALLAS -- TCU tight end Shae Reagan has been named a semifinalist for the 2008 Draddy Trophy, presented by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.
A senior from Idalou, Texas, Reagan has also been identified as a candidate for a 2008 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Award.
Launched in 1959, the NFF scholar-athlete program became the first initiative in history to credit a player for both academic and athletic accomplishments. The Draddy Trophy, named after former NFF Chairman Vincent dePaul Draddy, was first awarded in 1990 and adds to the program's mystique.
Reagan is enrolled in a 3-2 program at TCU in which he earns his master's degree at the same time as his undergraduate degree. He is majoring in education with an emphasis on middle school mathematics, while his graduate work is focused in middle school curriculum.
Reagan has 32 career receptions for 594 yards. His 18.56 average yards per catch mark is just percentage points behind Phillip Epps (18.61, 1978-81) for fifth on TCU's all-time list. At one point last season, Reagan temporarily held the top spot. His first 17 career receptions resulted in first downs.
