
Key Conference Match-Ups Await Frog Volleyball

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Horned Frog volleyball team will look to continue their winning ways this weekend with two key league match-ups. Thursday night, TCU will host Utah at 7 p.m. followed by a Saturday afternoon tilt against No. 21 BYU at 1 p.m. TCU will be giving out a free hand-held FM radio on Saturday to the first 100 fans.
Special Promotions
On Saturday the first 100 fans at the volleyball game will receive a free hand-held FM radio. Additionally, the Frogs will host a half hour free clinic prior to the start of the match. The clinic is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the University Rec Center.
TCU vs. Utah Series History
The Frogs and the Utes will be meeting for the 11th time in school history. Utah holds an 8-2 series advantage, however, the Frogs have won two of the last three. TCU swept the regular season series in 2007 only to bow out to the Utes in the MWC Tournament in Las Vegas. Utah is 3-1 all-time in Fort Worth.
TCU vs. BYU Series History
The Frogs are still in search of their first win over the Cougars. TCU came close in 2006 dropping a hard-fought five-game series in Provo. BYU is 5-0 all-time in Fort Worth.
Home Sweet Home
The Frogs have enjoyed their home court advantage this season. A perfect 5-0, TCU has lost just three sets at the University Rec Center. Offensively, they are hitting for a .317 percentage and are averaging 14.4 kills per game. Defensively, the are averaging 14 digs per game and 2.1 blocks per set.
Off To A Good Start
The Frogs are 2-1 and tied for second in the league. A lot of the success is due to an impressive offensive punch. Collectively, the team is averaging 14.1 kills per set. Defense has been strong as well with 16 digs per set and 2.33 blocks per game.
Games Won vs. Games Lost
The difference between wins and losses is night and day for the Frogs. In wins, the Frogs put up 14 kills versus just 11.5 in losses. Defensively, the team digs 14.2 balls per set in wins and just 14 in losses. They are hitting .281 as a team in wins and only .136 in losses.
