HOUSTON -- It was probably a little closer than Coach Gary Patterson and his football team would have liked it to be, but after the final horn sounded and a collective exhale by every fan wearing purple, the Horned Frogs were bowl champions again.
TCU held on to defeat Houston, 20-13, in the 2007 Texas Bowl. It was the Frogs third straight bowl victory.
The Cougars had a chance to tie the game with less than 30 seconds to play but Case Keenum's pass sailed just beyond the fingertips of Jeron Harvey in the end zone. He had two more shots at the end zone, but the ball fell short on the first one and Chase Ortiz hit him as he threw the second one to end the game.
"It's been like that all year," Patterson said. "That's been the thing with our football team, we've just been able to overcome adversity and win ball games."
