Bowl gifts are one of the best aspects of the postseason for players, coaches and support staff. These gifts usually consist of unique items to commemorate the bowl game and help say congratulations on a successful season.
Texas Bowl officials decided to give 'em the boot - literally.
Each member of the TCU football family received a custom pair of Nocona Boots as part of their bowl gifts package.
In an article on ESPN.com the boots won the distinction of the "Most Outrageous Bowl Gift for 2007."
Excerpt from the ESPN.com feature: Save a horse and ride these cowboys: The $300 custom-fitted Nocona boots provided by the Texas Bowl can be made with just about any kind of leather -- including ostrich, veal, alligator and whatever else the TCU and Houston players are hungry for on the Discovery Channel.
Even though the Horned Frogs may have been led astray by the different choices of leather - the boots were a hit.
During the week leading up to the bowl, Nocona Boots held a Boot Fitting Party in the player hospitality room at the JW Marriot.
Players, coaches and support staff tried on boots to make sure they got just the right fit.
The Boot Fitting Party was just another part of the Texas Bowl experience, which was ultimatley highlighted by TCU defeating 20-13. It marked the Frogs' third consecutive bowl victory.
From barbecue and boots to calf roping, TCU players and coaches had a festive bowl experience prior to their ninth bowl game in the last 10 years.
