
Frogs pull out an historic victory in Lincoln

LINCOLN Neb. - The woman¹s rifle team traveled to Nebraska last weekend andreturned home with a victory over the Cornhuskers. This was the first time in school history that the Frogs defeated Nebraska. The victory was sweetened by the fact that the team aggregates for both TCU and Nebraska, were the highest of the year. TCU topped Nebraska 4641-4627.
Simone Riford claimed first place individually with an aggregate score of 1166. She was aided by a first-place finish in air rifle, shooting a 590 as well as firing a 576 in smallbore, placing her fourth in the event. She was followed closely by Emily Paper ,who shot a 577 in smallbore and 587 in air rifle for an overall score of 1164.
Lauren Sullivan and Erin Lorenzen turned in strong performances as well. Sullivan shot a 574 in smallbore and a 584 in air rifle. Lorenzen finished sixth overall with scores of 567 in smallbore and 586 in air rifle.
Tanya Gorin fared well in both events, posting a 545 in smallbore and a 563 in air rifle.
Last year at the NCAA National Championships the Frogs tied the Cornhuskers for fifth place overall.
The next match for the Frogs is against Air Force at home in Fort Worth, Texas.
