POST-GAME QUOTESTCU-Utah
Jan. 26, 2008
Fort Worth, Texas--Daniel-Meyer Coliseum
TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
Opening Statement
"(Utah forward Kaylee Whipple) made a lot of really good plays out there. We tried to put different people on her, and she seemed to make the right read and do what was necessary. We forced her into a lot of turnovers, but she hit some back-breaking shots."
On the end of game
"I think when we look at the tape, we'll see the missed opportunities at the free-throw line and with layups. Even as poorly as we shot from 3, I think it boils down to those things. We had some breakaways we didn't finish. We had a lot of attempts at the free-throw line. We seemed to want to play so well today that when we didn't, we didn't know how to react."
On Utah's performance
"Give them credit. They answered, when we made a run. Whipple gets a layup, and then they hit the 3 to get (the lead) to seven. We get a 3 from Lorie (Butler-Rayford), and they come right back and Mitchell gets a layup right out of the media timeout."
On Whipple
"She was very involved when the game was on the line. She was the player that made plays when the game was in its tightest moments."
Senior forward Lorie Butler-Rayford
On the overall performance of the team
"We came in as a team thinking, `Here is our chance to get back at Utah after last year.' We were excited to play them. I think we came out a little too ready to play. We should have just settled down toward the end of the game and played our game--team ball."
On now moving on to road play
"I still think we have confidence going on the road. With this loss, obviously, we will take what we can from it and learn. But against UNLV we will have to just change gears and play. I think we will be okay."
