FORT WORTH, Texas - Former Horned Frog Lance Broadway won his first game as a Major Leaguer Thursday night. In just his second full season in professional baseball, Broadway was called up on Sept. 4. He made his first career start Thursday night versus Kansas City. Broadway was the 15th overall pick of the 2005 draft by the White Sox.
Prior to his start, Broadway had made tbree appearances and none since Sept. 11. He was named the starter earlier this week, replacing Mark Buehrle in the starting rotation.
His first career start was a successful one as he tossed six scoreless innings of two-hit baseball against the Kansas City Royals. He walked just two batters and racked up eight strikeouts.
In four big league appearances, the right-hander has a 0.87 ERA in 10 1/3 innings pitched. He has surrendered just two runs on five hits and tallied 14 strikeouts while walking just five. Opponents are hitting just .143 off of him.
