FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU sophomore Festus Kigen has been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's cross country athlete of the week.
Kigen received his first conference athlete of the week honor after finishing second overall at the Texas A&M Invitational held on Sept. 22, in College Station, Texas. The Eldoret, Kenya, native crossed the finish line in 24:15, leading the Horned Frogs to a fifth-place finish on the Texas A&M Intramural Fields course.
"Festus has worked really hard this season. He is a great kid and a pleasure to be around," said distance coach Shawn Winget.
Kigen, who's time at Texas A&M was his fastest of the season, currently leads the MWC in the 8K category.
The Horned Frogs, who are currently ranked in the South Central Region, will be back in action Sept. 29 at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. Start time is set for 9 a.m.
