Woody's Tavern Special Teams Player of the Week
Place-kicker Chris Manfredini accounted for seven of TCU's 13 points after going 2-for-2 on field goals and adding an extra point. His 19-yard field goal with 0:17 remaining in the first half gave TCU a 10-point halftime lead. Manfredini is 4-for-5 on field goals this season and is tied for second in the MWC in field goal percentage.
Stone Distribution Rock Hard Hit of the Week
Defensive end Chase Ortiz looked to have caused a Texas fumble when he hit UT quarterback Colt McCoy on a 3rd-and-5 play on the Longhorns' opening drive of the game. Despite the call being changed to an incomplete pass following a video review, Texas was forced to punt, giving the Frogs good field position for their second offensive series.
Pappa's Burgers Sack Counter TCU did not record a sack against Texas, but notched three quarterback hurries that were instrumental in keeping the Longhorns off the scoreboard in the first half. The Frogs have one sack through two games this season.
Charter Communications Perfect Connection of the Week Quarterback Andy Dalton found wideout Walter Bryant with a 24-yard strike late in the first half following a Texas turnover to set up the Frogs at the UT 4-yard line. The connection came on a 2nd-and-10 crossing pattern and led to place-kicker Chris Manfredini's 19-yard field goal that extended TCU's lead to 10-0 entering halftime.
Armed Forces Bowl MWC Breakdown
Mountain West Conference teams went 3-6 last week, as the league continued its tough early season schedule by matching up with four top-25 non-conference teams. Air Force opened the conference season with a win over Utah, while New Mexico and Wyoming each added victories. In addition to TCU's tough loss to No. 7 Texas, BYU (at No. 13 UCLA), Colorado State (vs. No. 10 California) and UNLV (vs. No. 5 Wisconsin) each fell in close battles with top-25 teams.
