GoFrogs.com recently sat down with cross country coach Shawn Winget as he prepares to open the 2007 season at the Baylor Twilight Invite.
Winget comes to TCU from Ferris High School in Ferris, Texas. Prior to his stint at Ferris, Winget coached at Northwood University, Baylor University and Abilene Christian University.
GoFrogs.com: What does it mean to you to be a part of the TCU program?
Shawn Winget: I am very proud to be a part of TCU. There is such a history and tradition of outstanding teams.
GF: How excited were you when you found out that you got the job?
SW: I was extremely excited when I found out. My family and I are thrilled to be here.
GF: What do you expect this upcoming season to be like?
SW: I am looking forward to a great season. Both squads have set some high goals for this year. We are going to work very hard, stay focused and continue to improve.
GF: What has your first couple of day's been like?
SW: It has been very hectic. I have been running around in circles trying to learn all the aspects of TCU athletics, but I love every minute of it.
GF: Has anyone surprised you in the first couple of practices?
SW: I have been very surprised by the how positive the overall attitude of
the team has been. I have a great group of kids to work with.
GF: What do you expect from the team come Friday?
SW: We expect to compete hard and get a good race in.
GF: What type of things coaching wise do you bring to the TCU program?
SW: I bring a lot of passion.
