NEW YORK - Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska were recognized this weekend in New York as members of the 2007 ITA All-Star Team. The 2007 Doubles All-Americans were honored with the nation's top-ranked players from last season, along with the ITA/Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners.
All of the student-athletes were recognized at a luncheon on Saturday in the USTA President's Suite at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center during the Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. USTA President Jane Brown Grimes, ITA Executive Director David A. Benjamin, former Mayor of New York City David Dinkins, and a member of the USTA Board of Directors presented the awards to the recipients. Later Saturday the group was given a behind-the-scenes tour of the U.S. Open facilities and were treated to a private reception in New York City on Saturday night.
Members of the ITA All-Star Team included Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long of North Carolina, Liz Bondi of DePauw, Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska of TCU, Audra Cohen of Miami, Megan Falcon of LSU, Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zoricic of William and Mary, Lindsey Nelson of USC, Jelena Pandzic of Fresno Pacific, Kasia Siwosz of Cowley County and Iuliia Stupak of Armstrong Atlantic State.
The 24th annual ITA All-Star Team includes the nation's top-ranked men's and women's tennis players from the season-ending Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings at the NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA levels, as well as champions from the 2006 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships and 2007 NCAA Champions.
Cetnik and Sydorska ended the 2007 season as one of the most decorated doubles teams to ever play at TCU, as the duo finished the year ranked No. 3 for the highest ranking in school history. The tandem recorded a 25-7 record during the 2006-07 season, and advanced to the doubles semifinals of the NCAA Championships for only the second time in TCU history. Cetnik, a senior on last year's squad, set the TCU single season record for doubles victories with 35, while Sydorska, currently a junior on the team, tied for second all-time with 34 wins.
