Being that you're now a senior, has it hit you how fast time goes by from when you came in as a freshman?"It really hit me right before coming into two-a-days. I realized this is my last go-around. A few years ago, I was thinking I got two or three more seasons. Entering this fall, it has hit me a little bit early. When the season starts and begins rolling by, probably about game four, I will open my eyes and truly realize it. I am just trying to take it day-by-day and hopefully it goes slowly."
When you look at the progress this program has made from when you first came in to where it is now, how does that make you feel?
"It gives me a sense of pride and makes you feel great. Since I came in under Coach Patterson, it has been fantastic and I have seen such a turnaround."
What's it like having All-Mountain West Conference safety and return specialist Brian Bonner as your roommate?
"We've become more than friends or teammates. We've become brothers. We've helped each other through thick and thin. He is a great guy, friend and brother. My family members love him."
What does Coach Patterson mean to you?
"He's a firm coach, and I believe in his coaching philosophy because it grows you from a boy to a man. I can honestly say that I have become a man here at TCU under Coach Patterson. His philosophy and style are fantastic. We work extremely hard. Coach Patterson said that you choose to be different when you come to TCU. He's different, our program is different and I am a different man because of it."
What would you say to people who are considering attending TCU?
"You are going to be part of a great small-knit community. Everybody knows each other, athletes and non-athletes. It is the type of community where everyone wants to be involved. Our athletics program, from football to golf to baseball, is tremendous. It's also outstanding on the academic end. Our graduation rate is fantastic. It's just a great atmosphere, community and place to reside and earn your degree."
You are graduating in December. What's your plan after that?
"I'm looking at a commercial real-estate firm in Dallas as well as a little oil and gas work here in Fort Worth. I have a couple of things lined up for myself after graduation in December but, right now, I am trying to finish my second degree."
Do you try to teach the younger players on the team lessons in life away from football?
"Most definitely. It goes into life training and life habits, just like I was saying about Coach Patterson turning me into a man. I try to take what I've learned and pass my knowledge on. I have always been taught knowledge is learned to be shared. I try to share all the knowledge I have from school to football to life experiences. It goes way past football."
