OVERVIEW:Keyed by two-time All-MWC selection Jason Phillips (6-1, 234, Jr.), the entire TCU linebacker corps returns. Phillips is ranked by The Sporting News as the nation's 10th-best middle linebacker. In 2005, he became the first freshman defensive player in league history to be named All-MWC when he was a second-team pick. Last year, he was a first-team selection. Phillips (Waller, Texas), who has started all 25 games in his TCU career, is the Frogs' top-returning tackler with 73 stops. He led TCU with 71 tackles in 2005. A fixture opposite Phillips is unheralded David Hawthorne (6-0, 225, Sr.). A senior from Corsicana, Texas, Hawthorne started all 13 games last year. He totaled 43 tackles with six for a loss. Robert Henson (6-1, 228, Jr.) has been an honorable-mention All-MWC pick in both of his first two seasons on the field for the Frogs. Despite not starting a game last year, he placed third on the team with 64 tackles. Daryl Washington (6-3, 228, So.) was an exciting newcomer a year ago as a true freshman. He gained valuable experience in a reserve role while also contributing on special teams. Darius Ingram (6-2, 235, Sr.), in his third year at TCU after transferring from LSU, adds depth to the linebacker position.
