Biernacka denied additional year of eligibility

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU senior forward Hanna Biernacka has learned the NCAA has denied her request for an additional year of eligibility.
Biernacka had applied for an additional year of eligibility in the spring in an attempt to gain another year after playing in just three games and totaling 25 minutes during the 2005-06 season at LSU prior to transferring to TCU in the spring of 2006.
"We are disappointed for Hanna and the team," head coach Jeff Mittie said. "When going through the process, you get your hopes up that she is going to be a part of the team and it is tough when you find out she will not be playing for us next season."
Biernacka will continue to attend classes at TCU and is on schedule to graduate with a degree in communications in the spring of 2008.
Upon transferring from LSU following the fall 2005 semester, Biernacka was forced to sit out during the spring of 2006 and fall of 2006 due to NCAA transfer rules.
Despite having to sit out the first nine games of the 2006-07 season, Biernacka was named honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference after ranking third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding. Biernacka averaged 12.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 23 games.
Biernacka reached double figures in scoring in 13 games last season. She played arguably the best game of her career in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Ole Miss. In the game, Biernacka totaled 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting and matched a career high with nine rebounds.
Although she will not be able to compete for the Lady Frogs next season, Biernacka will continue to play an active role with the program as the Lady Frogs bid for their eighth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
