FORT WORTH, Texas - According to the final grade reports from the Spring 2007 semester, TCU's student-athletes once again did impressive work in the classroom.
The departmental cumulative GPA of 2.92 is the highest since the department began tracking the figures in the fall of 1999. In addition, the semester all-sport team grade-point average (2.90) ranks second over that span, behind only a 2.91 this past fall.
In all, 14 teams boasted cumulative GPAs over the 3.0 mark and a total of 62 student-athletes graduated during the 2006-07 academic year.
"Once again, we are very proud of the academic success displayed by our student-athletes," TCU Director of Athletic Academic Services Chris Uchacz said. "The 2006-07 academic year was a really strong one for us. I'd like to thank the TCU faculty, the coaches and the Athletic Academic Services Office staff, as they all work as a team to emphasize the importance of academic success to every single one of our student-athletes."
Twenty-six individuals recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs in the spring, while 55 earned Dean's List honors. In addition, nearly a quarter of TCU's 438 student-athletes (23 percent) had semester GPAs of 3.5 or higher. Fifty-two percent of the Horned Frogs earned 3.0s or better.
Additionally, 113 student-athletes were named Collegiate All-American Scholars by the United States Achievement Academy, while six were honored as recipients of the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Sport Scholar Award.
