
Lorenzen captures three medals at National Championships

FORT BENNING, Ga. - The TCU women's rifle team was well represented this past weekend at the USA Shooting National Rifle/Pistol Championships in Fort Benning, Ga. Erin Lorenzen and Lauren Sullivan both competed and earned high finishes in their events. Lorenzen tied for runner-up in Women's Rifle Junior Grand Champion after snagging a first, second, third and seventh place finish in the three different events.Lorenzen qualified for the National Development team with her third place finish in three-position rifle and requalified in the 50 meter prone. In 50 meter Prone Rifle, she was the National Champion in the junior women's group and placed second in open category with a combined score of 1181 based on two rounds of 60 shots.
She captured the Bronze medal in the 50 meter three position rifle, Lorenzen tallied a score of 578 on the second course of fire, which was the second-highest score in the open and the highest in the junior class. She finished the event with a score of 1142. She rounded out the competition with and seventh-place finish in Air Rifle with a score of 777.
The combined score of 3100 tied her for second among the junior age group at the National Championships.
Sullivan also had a good weekend, placing ninth overall in the competition. She fired off a score of 1135 in the 50 meter Three Position Rifle, an 1155 in the 50 meter Prone Rifle and capped it off with a 773 in Air Rifle for a final tally of 3063. Her score in Prone Rifle was third highest in her class.
Both will be sophomores on the squad next season.
