ATHENS, Ga. - TCU senior women's tennis player Ana Cetnik fell by a score of 6-2, 6-4 to No. 22 Nina Henkel of California on Thursday in the round of 32 at the NCAA Division I Individual Singles Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. The loss ended Cetnik's singles career at TCU, who posted 79 singles victories over four seasons.
"Ana fought valiantly as always in her last singles match at TCU," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "I'm so proud of her distinguished career. She's been such a big part of our success the past four years. Now she'll turn her focus towards the doubles and look to have a great doubles tournament."
Cetnik, who defeated her fifth ranked opponent on Wednesday in the opening round against No. 15 Riza Zalameda of UCLA, had a 4-3 lead in the second set, but couldn't hold on as Henkel won three consecutive games to take the match.
Cetnik will team up with Anna Sydorska today at 3:30 p.m. CT in the opening round of the doubles portion of the tournament. The duo is the No. 4 national seed, and will face off against Miami's Audrey Banada and Romy Farah.
