FORT WORTH, Texas - Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska have qualified for the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Individual Championships, one day after the No. 38 TCU women's tennis team secured its fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament. By notching a No. 4 national seed in doubles play, the duo automatically earns All-America status.
The singles and doubles action will take place on May 23-28 in Athens, Ga., at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The field consists of the nation's top 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams.
Cetnik earned an automatic bid to the singles competition out of the Mountain West Conference after recording a singles mark of 18-7 this spring, including an undefeated 10-0 record in conference play. The Belgrade, Serbia, native is currently the highest ranked player in the MWC at No. 57.
Cetnik also earned an automatic bid out of the MWC for the doubles competition with Anna Sydorska. The tandem notched a No. 4 national seed for the championships after putting together a spring record of 10-4, and an overall season record of 22-6.
The duo was named the ITA National Indoor Doubles Runners-Up last fall, and have knocked off the top three ranked tandems in the nation in the past year. Cetnik will make her third trip to the doubles championships, as the TCU senior advanced to the semifinals in 2005 and the round of 16 in 2006.
