
Retkofsky signs free-agent contract with Pittsburgh

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former TCU deep snapper and defensive lineman Jared Retkofsky has signed a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.Retkofsky was a three-year letterman for the Horned Frogs, totaling 34 tackles in his career. Eight of those stops were for a loss, including 4.5 sacks. He holds the TCU weight room record in the broad jump (10-1) for defensive linemen.
Retkofsky is the third member of the 2006 Frog football team to enter the NFL. Safety Marvin White was a fourth-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, while offensive linemen Herb Taylor was drafted in the sixth round by the Kansas City Chiefs.
A native of Justin, Texas, Retkofsky served as TCU's deep snapper in 2005 and 2006. He played in all 36 TCU games the past three seasons and in the last 40 dating back to his redshirt freshman campaign in 2003.
Retkofsky recorded a career-best 17 tackles, including three sacks, as a sophomore in 2004.
