COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 38 TCU women's tennis team will kick off the 2007 Mountain West Conference Championship against Wyoming at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
The Horned Frogs (16-9, 7-1) wrapped up the conference regular season against Wyoming (6-14, 2-6) on April 15, recording a 7-0 victory to claim a share of the regular season conference title with BYU. The two teams have met four times in the overall series, as TCU has won all four contests.
TCU enters the weekend as the tournament's No. 2 seed, after going 7-1 in the conference regular season, with the only loss coming to BYU. The winner of the Wyoming-TCU match will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the UNLV-Utah match on Friday at 11 a.m. CT.
TCU features three nationally ranked singles players and one ranked doubles tandem. Senior Ana Cetnik leads the Frogs at No. 54, followed by Anna Sydorska at No. 85 and Nina Munch-Soegaard at No. 99. The duo of Cetnik and Sydorska is tabbed as the nation's fourth-ranked pair.
The Frogs captured the conference tournament title last year in their inaugural season in the MWC. TCU triumphed over Wyoming, New Mexico and BYU to claim the championship.
