
TCU men's tennis faces tough weekend competition

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 66 TCU men's tennis team will face two top 25 teams this weekend, starting with No. 22 Tulsa on Saturday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center at 2 p.m. The Frogs will then travel to Stillwater, Okla., to face No. 10 Oklahoma State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Frogs, who are 1-5 overall, are coming off of a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to No. 65 SMU on Wednesday, while Tulsa (8-3) last defeated No. 69 Penn by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday.
The Golden Hurricane feature two singles players and two doubles tandems that are currently ranked. Arnau Brugues comes in as the No. 5 player in the nation, followed by Will Gray at No. 120. The duo of Lucques Maasdorp and Ricardo Soriano is currently ranked No. 29, while Diego Camacho and Ross Cunningham are tabbed No. 41.
The Frogs will make their way to Stillwater, Okla., the following day to face No. 10 Oklahoma State at the DeBois Tennis Center. The Cowboys are currently 7-1 on the season, and are also coming off of a 5-2 victory over No. 69 Penn on Thursday.
Oklahoma State also has two ranked singles players in Ivan Puchkarov (No. 17) and Daniel Byrnes (No. 105). The duo of Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyesov is ranked No. 54 in the nation.
TCU and Tulsa have met 13 times in the history of the two programs dating back to 1993, with the Frogs holding a 7-6 advantage. The Frogs and Cowboys have tangled 11 times, as Oklahoma State leads the series 6-5, which dates back to 1976. TCU fell to both Tulsa and Oklahoma State last season.
