
Delaney named Mountain West Conference Track Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU senior sprinter Delwayne Delaney has been named Mountain West Conference Male Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
A native of Conaree Village, St. Kitts, Delaney earned two NCAA regional qualifying marks at the Horned Frog Invitational on Saturday. Competing in TCU's first outdoor meet of the season, Delaney picked up the qualifying marks in the 100 meters and 4x100 relay.
In addition to earning a regional qualifying mark, Delaney finished second in the 100 with a career-best clocking of 10.29. Delaney's time in the 100 is the third-best in the nation this season and fourth-best in conference history. As a member of TCU's 4x100 relay team, Delaney helped the Flyin' Frogs place second with a regional qualifying mark of 40.13.
Delaney also ran the second leg of TCU's 4x400 relay team that placed first with a time of 3:12.21.
The honor is the first of Delaney's career and third of the 2006-07 track season for the Frogs. Also earning honors were Candis Kelley on Feb. 13 and Virgil Hodge on Jan. 23.
