FORT WORTH, Texas - In addition to enjoying outstanding seasons on the fields of competition, TCU student-athletes also did impressive work in the classroom, according to the final grade reports from the Fall 2006 semester.
The all-sport team grade-point average for the semester was 2.91, up from the 2.85 posted in the Spring of 2006. The semester GPA (2.91) and departmental cumulative GPA (2.90) are the highest since the department began tracking the figures in the Fall of 1999.
"We are very proud of the academic achievements of our TCU student-athletes," Director of Athletic Academic Services Chris Uchacz said. "To increase both our departmental semester and cumulative GPAs in the Fall semester is a testament to their hard work. It is also a credit to the TCU faculty, the coaches and the Athletic Academic Services Office staff, as they all work as a team to emphasize the importance of academic success."
Thirty-two student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs, while 76 earned Dean's List honors. In addition, over one fourth of all TCU student-athletes (26 percent) had semester GPAs of 3.5 or higher and 54 percent of the 466 student-athletes earned semester GPAs of 3.0 or better, an increase of three percent over the previous semester.
A total of 26 student-athletes graduated at the conclusion of the Fall 2006 term.
