TCU announces November award winners

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletics Department announced its monthly student-athlete awards for the month of November on Thursday.
The four monthly categories are Male and Female Athlete of the Month and Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the men's side, Joseph Turner was named the Athlete of the Month, while Chris Manfredini was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the women's side, Nirelle Hampton was named the Athlete of the Month and Emily Paper was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
Manfredini, a senior placekicker on the football team, made all nine of his field-goal attempts while also going a perfect 15-of-15 on PATs during the month. The Colleyville, Texas, native had three field goals in both games against New Mexico and BYU. Manfredini's 45-yard boot against UNLV was his second-longest field goal of the season.
Turner, a sophomore tailback from Austin, Texas, rushed for a team-best 434 yards (108.5 per game) and five touchdowns to help lead TCU to a 3-1 record for the month of November. In his first collegiate start against New Mexico, Turner rushed for 115 yards on 28 carries. Turner ran for 226 yards and four touchdowns in TCU's 45-33 win at San Diego State, which was the highest rushing total for TCU since 2002.
Hampton, a junior setter on the volleyball team, averaged 11.04 assists per game during November, above her season average of 10.89. The Gainesville, Fla., native totaled 31 kills for a .294 percentage and tallied 68 digs for an average of 2.96 per game during the month. Hampton posted a double-double to help lead TCU to an upset victory over No. 17 Colorado State.
Paper, a sophomore on the rifle team, led the Frogs in aggregate scoring against Kentucky and Army. Against the Wildcats, Paper placed third overall to lead all Frog shooters in the victory. The Pleasant Valley, Iowa, product finished fourth in the smallbore and ninth in air rifle to rank as the fifth overall top shooter in the match against Army.
