First Pitch Banquet Invitation
FORT WORTH, Texas - Head coach Jim Schlossnagle and TCU baseball are set to host the fifth annual First Pitch Banquet on Feb. 1 at Ridglea Country Club. The banquet will provide fans the opportunity to meet the 2008 TCU Horned Frogs as well as interact with the coaching staff. Guest speakers at the event will be Texas Rangers General Manager, Jon Daniels, and manger Ron Washington, which begins with a cocktail reception at 6:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 pm.
"This weekend will be a great start to the 2008 baseball season," said Schlossnagle. "Under the new NCAA rules, we begin official team practice on February 1, so having the banquet that night along with the Alumni reception followed by the Alumni Game the next day, should make for an exciting weekend!"
There will be a TCU Baseball Alumni reception immediately following the First Pitch Banquet at Michaels Restaurant in Fort Worth. The reception is open to former TCU Baseball players and a guest only.
The annual alumni weekend will continue Saturday, Feb. 2 with the alumni game at 1 p.m. Making his return to Lupton Stadium to coach the alumni squad will be former head coach and all-time wins leader at TCU, Lance Brown.
"Ron Washington and Jon Daniels have been very gracious to me and TCU since their arrival and we look forward to hearing from them at the banquet," remarked Schlossnagle. "We want to be very supportive of the Rangers and appreciate their continued interest in our program."
Cost for the banquet is set at $100 per seat or $1,000 for a table of 10. Dress for the event calls for business attire. Proceeds will go to supporting the TCU baseball team with scholarships, equipment and travel aid. Interested parties are asked to RSVP to Derek Hassell by Jan. 28 at 817-257-5155. Alumni interested in attending the Alumni reception are also asked to RSVP to Derek Hassell by Jan. 28.
