
TCU announces October award winners

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletics Department announced its monthly student-athlete awards for the month of October on Tuesday.
The four monthly categories are Male and Female Athlete of the Month and Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the men's side, Stephen Hodge was named the Athlete of the Month, while Cosmin Cotet was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the women's side, Calli Corley was named the Athlete of the Month and Devon Kirk was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
Hodge, a junior safety on the football team, posted a team-best 4.5 sacks in the Frogs' three October games. In his first collegiate start, Hodge earned Co-MWC Defensive Player of the Week honors after he led the Frogs with seven tackles, including a sack, and three pass break-ups in TCU's 37-0 win over New Mexico. In addition to two sacks against Utah, he also registered his first collegiate touchdown when he returned a blocked punt 31 yards for a score. The Tatum, Texas, native currently leads the MWC for sacks by a defensive back.
Cotet, a senior on the men's tennis team, went 4-2 overall in the month of October, advancing to the main draw of the Polo Ralph Lauren/ITA All-American Championships. Cotet defeated three nationally ranked opponents at the tournament, including a straight sets victory over No. 2 Steven Moneke of Ohio State.
Corley, a senior libero on the volleyball team, totaled 178 digs on the month, averaging 4.94 per game. Corley recorded a career-high 33 digs against Utah in a five game come-from-behind victory over the Utes in Salt Lake City. The Abilene, Texas, native became the all-time leader in digs and is the only Horned Frog to notch over 1,300 digs in her career.
Kirk, a junior on the volleyball team, led the Frogs with 41 blocks in October, averaging 1.14 per game. Kirk also totaled 46 kills, four aces and 13 digs on the month. On Oct. 3 against Oklahoma, Kirk racked up a career-high 11 blocks.
