
TCU Rifle captures victory at Kentucky

Fort Worth, Texas - An outstanding road performance by the TCU Rifle team helped them score a big win over the University of Kentucky this past weekend. For the second time in the last three events, the squad was led by Emily Paper, who posted an aggregate score of 1,158 (581 air/577 smallbore) on the day. The Frogs claimed four of the top seven spots in the aggregate scores to defeat Kentucky 4,621-4,604.
The team eked out a three-point victory in air rifle, topping the Wildcats 2,329-2,326 to take the early advantage in the match. Erin Lorenzen posted a solid 586 to earn first place in the event. Lauren Sullivan followed close behind in third with a tally of 583. Paper came in eighth place with her 581 and Simone Riford rounded out the top 10, shooting a 579. Also shooting in the event was Tanya Gorin, who finished with a score of 576.
TCU put the nail in the coffin with an outstanding effort in smallbore as it claimed a 2,292-2,278 victory. Riford was the top Frog shooter in the event, placing second with a score of 577. Finishing fourth with an identical score was Paper. Eighth and ninth place belonged to the Frogs Sullivan (570) and Lorenzen (568), respectively. Tanya Gorin also shot a 562 for TCU.
The Frogs posted three of the top five aggregate scores. Following Paper's third place total, Riford was fourth (1,156) and Lorenzen fifth (1,154). Sullivan finished seventh with an aggregate of 1,153.
The Frogs will take a two-month break from competitive action before returning to the range for a Jan. 19 home meeting against Mississippi.
