Kigen leads TCU at MWC Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Sophomore Festus Kigen finished 15th overall Saturday afternoon to lead TCU at the Mountain West Conference Cross Country Championships.
Kigen, an Eldoret, Kenya, native, crossed the finish line in 25:30.00 at the University of New Mexico North Golf Course. Placing 36th overall was senior Matt Manly, who ran 27:29.00.
Freshman Jacob Womenldorf, a Northfield, Minn., native, was next for the Frogs, running 20:01.00 to finish in 37th place, while Holden Hollingsworth, who ran 29:54.00, crossed the finish line in 39th. Finally, Andrew McDonald clocked a time of 30:38.00 to finish 40th overall in the 8K race.
As a team, TCU placed sixth overall on the men's side, while the women posted an eighth-place finish in Albuquerque.
Leading the way on the TCU women's side was freshman Tanja Ivandic, who ran 23:42.00 in the 6K race. Ivandic, who finished in 33rd place, was followed by Danielle Selner, a sophomore from Houston, who ran 23:58.00 to place 38th overall.
Crossing the finish line in 46th was Ashley Millerick (24:28.00), while Shannon Andrew placed 50th overall with a time of 24:56.00. Finally, Amber Carlisle clocked a time of 25:47 to finish 57th, while Amanda Foust posted a time of 26:00.00 to place 61st in the 6K race.
BYU's men's squad won the team title, while the Colorado State women captured the women's championship on Saturday.
Individually, New Mexico's Jeremy Johnson claimed the men's individual title, finishing the 8K race in 24:23.00. On the women's side, CSU's April Thomas, who earned Athlete of the Year honors, ran the 5K race in 21:20.00.
Members of the Horned Frog cross country program will be back in action Nov. 10 at the NCAA South Central Regional in Fayetteville, Ark.
