FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU head football coach Gary Patterson held his weekly media luncheon Tuesday in the John Justin Athletic Center.
The Horned Frogs (3-2, 1-1) are at Wyoming (3-1, 0-0) Saturday at 1 p.m. Central. The Cowboys top the Mountain West Conference and rank fourth nationally in total defense, allowing just 248.8 yards per game. Wyoming has not allowed a 100-yard rusher in its last 11 games. The Cowboys are also among the league leaders in total offense with an average of 381.0 yards per game.
Included below are excerpts from Patterson's comments to the media.
Opening Statement ...
"The good news is that it went from a low of 21 and snowing to maybe a high of 70 in Laramie on Saturday. Just closing up on Colorado State, it's good to get back on the winning side at 3-2. We're going into Laramie and, like most games on the road, you have to find a way to win."
On playing Wyoming in Laramie ...
"They have a great record when playing at home and embarrassed Utah, one of the better teams in our conference, in Laramie last year. They play well and have a great crowd and atmosphere."
On how to prepare for possible inclement weather ...
"I'm kind of fired up for the cold because that means I won't have to change at halftime and sweat as much. We practiced in the sleet last year the week of the Air Force game. Honestly, I think our kids are kind of excited about it. Snow doesn't seem to really bother people throwing the football. A hard rain is a different thing."
On Wyoming not playing a conference game yet ...
"I think that's why they call them preseason games. I think that's the way we'd rather have it, playing all four of your non-conference games before you go into league play."
On the TCU offense ...
"We're not where we want to be offensively, but we're playing better. I said last week would be our best game on offense and it was. We are starting to get better."
On tailback Aaron Brown returning to action ...
"The biggest thing he brings is leadership, besides being a guy who can take it to the house."
