CHICAGO -- TCU's Chase Ortiz appears on the mid-season watch list for the 2007 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award.

Ortiz tops the Mountain West Conference in both sacks (six) and tackles for a loss (11.5). He is a two-time first-team All-MWC selection. Ortiz also appeared on 2007 watch lists for the Chuck Bednarik Award, Rotary Lombardi Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy.

A senior from League City, Texas, Ortiz has started all 32 TCU games over the last three seasons. During that span, he has totaled 36.5 tackles for a loss and 17.5 sacks.

Finalists for The Ted Hendricks Award will be announced Dec. 5.
