Looking to get back on the winning track after suffering just its second loss in its last 15 games on Thursday at Utah, the No. 23 TCU women's basketball team (13-5, 3-1 Mountain West Conference) will conclude its three-game road trip on Saturday with a 3 p.m. tip at Wyoming (11-5, 2-2 MWC). The Lady Frogs will look to hand the Cowgirls their first home loss of the season at Arena Auditorium in Laramie, Wyo., where they are 5-0 and have won by double figures in four of five games.
Saturday's game will mark TCU's second in three days and will air on 88.7 KTCU and gofrogs.com with Jeff Williams on the call. Live stats from the game are also available on gofrogs.com.
With a 72-61 setback at Utah, TCU had its seven-game winning streak snapped. During TCU's run, it was defeating opponents by 24.0 points per game. Its streak was also the longest since 2003
The game in Laramie will be TCU's fourth-ever trip to Wyoming, where they hold a 1-2 record against the Cowgirls. Overall, TCU leads the series 5-3 and has won the last two meetings and five of the last six. TCU and Wyoming faced each other three times during the 2005-06 season with TCU topping the Cowgirls in Fort Worth (67-59) and at the MWC Conference Tournament in Denver (63-55). Wyoming's victory came in Laramie with a 68-67 win.
TCU will be gunning for its second road win of the season and first at Wyoming since an 88-73 win on Feb. 13, 1999 when both schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference.
Scouting Wyoming Wyoming enters Saturday's game with a 2-2 mark in conference play and 11-6 mark overall. Wyoming is 5-0 at home this season. Wyoming is paced Justyna Podziemska, who is the Cowgirls' leading scorer (14.9) and rebounder (7.1). She also leads the team with 58 assists and 17 blocks. Podziemska missed Wyoming's 71-47 win over San Diego State on Wednesday with an ankle injury. She is listed as day-to-day heading into Saturday's matchup. Wyoming is second to only TCU in the league in scoring offense (66.6) and third in the league in scoring defense (56.4). The Cowgirls lead the league in three-point field-goal percentage (37.1) and free-throw percentage (77.6), while ranking second in field-goal percentage (43.3).
The Series TCU has won the last two meetings over Wyoming. Overall, TCU leads the series 5-3. Wyoming leads the series 2-1 in Laramie.
