FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team grabbed a preseason national ranking of No. 36 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday.
"Being ranked No. 36 after losing five players off of a squad that finished 31st shows that the pollsters have a lot of confidence in what we can do here, which is nice," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli.
The Frogs will start the season as the top-ranked team in the Mountain West Conference, with the next closest team being San Diego State at No. 49. The men, who won the MWC Championship in their inaugural year last season, finished with a ranking of No. 31 after a preseason ranking of No. 50.
TCU loses five letterwinners from last season, including Doubles All-Americans Rafael Abreu and Jordan Freitas, but will welcome in five newcomers, highlighted by Arizona State transfer Chris Biro and Trinity University transfer Stuart Row.
The men will kick off the spring season on Jan. 19-21 in Houston, Texas, for the Rice Indoor Tournament.
