
Jackson and White receive MWC weekly honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- TCU quarterback Marcus Jackson and safety Marvin White have been named the Mountain West Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their performance in Sunday's 17-7 win at Baylor.The victory gave the Horned Frogs a 3-0 record versus the Big 12 since the start of the 2005 season. TCU also extended its winning streak to 11 games, second-longest in the nation behind only Texas (21).
Jackson, in his collegiate debut, completed 11-of-13 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns in rallying TCU from a 7-0 halftime deficit. The redshirt freshman from Houston connected with Aaron Brown on an 84-yard touchdown pass with 1:17 left in the third quarter to give the Frogs a 10-7 lead. It was the first career scoring toss for Jackson while also equaling the seventh-longest pass play in TCU history.

Jackson later hit tight end Quinton Cunigan with a 3-yard touchdown toss to extend the Frogs' margin to 17-7 with 9:32 to play.
White, a preseason All-Mountain West Conference selection and a member of The Sporting News' All-America checklist, totaled a career-best 14 tackles. No other Frog had more than five stops.
A senior from Port Barre, La., White helped anchor a TCU defense that limited Baylor to just seven points on a 35-yard scoring drive.
TCU makes its 2006 home debut Saturday versus UC Davis at 6 p.m.
