GoFrogs.com: It's good to have you back around campus. What did you do this summer?
Ross: This summer I took a business professional speaking course, worked at a law firm, worked basketball camps, then went home to New Mexico and visited my family and friends.
GoFrogs.com: How did you stay in shape for basketball?
Ross: I worked out almost everyday this summer. I played pick-up in our recreational center. I also played in a summer league in Euless (Texas), which was beneficial because I was able to work on individual weaknesses in real game situations.
GoFrogs.com: You return as the Mountain West Conference's leader in steals (2.5 per game) and you are the team's top returning scorer at 12.2 points per game. Does this change your outlook coming in to the season knowing that you are an upperclassman and one of the team leaders?
Ross: I feel really confident coming into this season as an upperclassman. Everyone seems so excited as a staff and team to work hard and have fun while doing so. I definitely know that leadership is expected of me from my teammates, coaches and fans. I plan on doing nothing less than meeting those expectations.
GoFrogs.com: What are you seeking your degree in?
Ross: I'm majoring in broadcasting and communications with a public relations emphasis. I was always told that if I could get paid for talking I would make a lot of money. So I took that advice (laughs)!
GoFrogs.com: What other TCU fall sport are you most looking forward to and why?
Ross: I love women's soccer! I applaud women that can play physical sports. But I would have to say I am most anxious to see the football team. I have been here all summer and their hard work hasn't gone unnoticed. I'm ready to see them have another successful year.
GoFrogs.com: I know you come from an athletic family so talk about your siblings and describe what kind of role they play into your basketball career.
Ross: My siblings play a major role in my career. My younger sister Ebony is the beautiful trophy fan. She uplifts me daily with encouragement. But I would have to say it is my older Ronald who challenges me the most. He played four years under Bob Knight at Texas Tech. He was Big 12 All-Conference and first team All-America. He inspires me because I want to accomplish the same achievements. I also want to lead my team to the Sweet 16 like he did. He reminds me in cute, little weekly lectures of how much work and dedication it takes. Thanks Bro!
GoFrogs.com: What do you know about the newcomers? How excited are you to have them join your team.
Ross: I really don't have our newcomers bio's memorized yet. But one thing for sure is they have not only a lot of talent, but also the right attitude that will be a great addition to the team's success.
GoFrogs.com: You just finished up Life Skills Week. What was your favorite part of the weeklong event?
Ross: Life Skills Week is really interesting. It covers so many beneficial aspects of our lives. It also gives us an opportunity to touch base and meet new faces in the TCU community. My favorite session is the Ropes Course. It is great team interaction off the court and it gave us a good opportunity to bond with the newcomers. They are a lot of fun like the veterans!
