As you know, the Mountain West Conference (MWC) and its member institutions have embarked on a new television partnership with CSTV, Comcast, OLN/Versus, and the mtn. The relationship is already paying dividends for TCU. Five of TCU's football games will be nationally broadcast on OLN (which will soon change its name to Versus and is already available in 70 million homes through both satellite and cable distribution); one game will be nationally broadcast on CSTV (a national college sports channel that is available now on the Dish Network and DirecTV); and three games will be shown on the Mountain West Conference's regional network, the mtn. Two other non conference games will also be televised - the Baylor game on the national Fox Sports Net channel and the Army game on one of the national ESPN channels. No television has been set for the UC Davis game.
Many of you have inquired about acquiring CSTV and the mtn. As noted above, CSTV is presently available on the Dish Network (channel 152), DirecTV (channel 610), and selected cable outlets (check the cable channels in your respective area). The mtn., the first regional network for a conference in America, presently has distribution through Comcast Cable in Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.
Negotiations are ongoing with the MWC and the satellite companies to bring the mtn. to the Dish Network and DirecTV. In addition, talks are also continuing to place the mtn. on local cable stations and to secure broader distribution for CSTV. Consumer demand is often a key for deciding to carry a particular network, and you are encouraged to call your satellite or cable provider to express your desire to see both CSTV and the mtn. on the lowest tier possible in their respective lineup (please see the contact numbers in the link above).....do not be deterred if the person you speak with does not know about the mtn. The employee who answers the phone may look at the screen and see that the mtn. is not yet listed, since it does not launch until September 1. You can educate him/her about the mtn. being the regional network of the Mountain West Conference. Please ask the customer service representative to forward your request for both CSTV and the mtn. to the supervisor.
Please call Scott Kull, Associate AD for External Affairs (817-257-7969); Jason Byrne, Director of Athletics Marketing (817-257-6928); or me (817-257-7710) if you have any questions. We have also included contact numbers in the link above for the Dish Network, DirecTV, and local cable companies in the Metroplex, as well as an updated 2006 football schedule since some of the game times have changed due to television.
Thank you.
