
Modkins signs with Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Former TCU safety Jeremy Modkins has signed a free-agent contract with the Green Bay Packers.Modkins is the second Horned Frog on the Packer roster. Wide receiver Cory Rodgers, a 2005 All-America kick returner, was a fourth-round draft pick of Green Bay in April.
Modkins was a four-year starter for TCU, totaling 219 tackles in his career. He was a second-team All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2005 as his 67 stops tied for third on the Frogs. The Marlin, Texas, native added three interceptions, eight pass breakups and three forced fumbles.
In the Frogs' 11-2 season in 2003, Modkins recorded a career-best 99 tackles. He also intercepted a pass in overtime to set up a TCU win at Arizona.
Modkins' older brother, Curtis, is TCU's seventh all-time leading rusher with 2,763 yards (1989-92) and currently the running backs coach at Georgia Tech.
