
Matranga qualifies for U.S. Women's Amateur

FRISCO, Texas -- TCU women's golfer Catherine Matranga shot an even-par 72 to qualify for the U.S. Women's Amateur to be held Aug. 7-13 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.A rising senior from Fort Worth, Matranga was one of nine qualifiers from a field of 64 participants at the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier at Stonebriar Country Club on July 5.
"I'm really excited for Catherine," TCU women's golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "She'll represent herself and TCU with class and great play at the U.S. Women's Amateur."
Matranga placed second on TCU with a 75.8 stroke average in the 2005-06 season. She finished in the top 15 in five of her 11 tournaments.
