
Kervin and Hejny receive TCU weekly honors

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Baseball's Bryan Kervin and women's basketball player JimAnne Hejny have been selected as the TCU Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Week for the period of Feb. 27 to March 5.Kervin had three multiple-hit games in the Horned Frogs' four contests, compiling a .533 batting average (eight-of-15). A sophomore shortstop from Grapevine, Texas, Kervin had two hits and two RBI in Saturday's 10-5 win over Florida Atlantic. He contributed a pair of doubles to Friday's 5-1 victory versus the Owls. Kervin had three hits and three RBI in last Tuesday's contest against Dallas Baptist.
Kervin is in his first year with TCU after being an honorable-mention All Pac-10 selection at Arizona last season. He currently has an 11-game hitting streak while topping the Frogs with a .382 batting average.
Hejny was a spark off the bench for TCU in wins at No. 17 Utah and in overtime versus UNLV.
The sophomore guard from Cisco, Texas, averaged 8.5 points on 50.0 percent (eight-of-16) shooting from the field. She posted back-to-back season highs in scoring with eight points against the Utes and nine versus the Rebels. Hejny was instrumental in TCU sweeping the season series from Top 25 Utah.
