
Hodge, Berrettini named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - Women's track sprinter Virgil Hodge and men's swimmer Jonathon Berrettini have been tabbed TCU's Student-Athletes of the Week, the school announced Tuesday. The honor is the second of the season for Hodge and the first for Berrettini.
Hodge, a sophomore from St. Kitts, picked up a pair of gold medals and a bronze medal at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend. She claimed first place in the 200-meter dash (23.46) and took part in the women's 4x400-meter relay team that shattered the MWC meet record with a time of 3:40.41. Her third medal of the league event came in the 60-meter dash, as she registered a 7.44 for third place.
Berrettini, a sophomore, set a TCU school record during his victory in the 100-yard backstroke (48.90) at the MWC Swimming Championships. Former Frog Aaron Ewert established the previous record of 49.03 in 2003. In addition, Berrettini placed sixth in the 200-yard backstroke (1:49.69) and 10th in the 50-yard freestyle (20.82) at the league meet. The Lewisville, Texas, product also was a member of two relay teams that placed third at the conference championships and one that finished fourth.
