Women's soccer participates in Habitat For Humanity project

FORT WORTH, Texas - Habitat For Humanity and the TCU women's soccer team joined forces on Feb. 11 to help construct a house for a Fort Worth family. They spent four hours at the site helping construct the frame of the house. Members of the TCU faculty and staff as well as students all volunteered for different shifts throughout the construction. The project is the first of many community service activities the women's soccer team will participate in this spring.
Other things the women's soccer team has planned for the spring semester include putting on soccer clinics for local children as well as visits to the Ronald McDonald House. They will also participate in school career days, reading days and drug awareness seminars at area schools.
"Our girls have been great in being very proactive with understanding their roles in society go beyond just school and athletics," remarked head coach Dan Abdalla. "It definitely looked like they enjoyed the opportunity to make a difference in someone else's life. Hopefully with this event and the others they have organized, they realize this is something they need to do beyond their years here at TCU."
