
Blake named to All-America team

FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU defensive end Tommy Blake has received honorable-mention All-America honors from Pro Football Weekly.Blake, a unanimous first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection, tops the league with 13.5 tackles for a loss while placing among the leaders with five sacks. His 51 stops rank fourth on the Horned Frogs.
Blake forced two fumbles and recovered two on the season, including one he returned 12 yards for a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage in a 27-21 win at New Mexico.
A junior from Aransas Pass, Texas, Blake appeared on watch lists for the Chuck Bednarik Award, Ted Hendricks Award, Lombardi Trophy, Lott Trophy and Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
Blake had a sack, forced fumble and quarterback hurry in a 12-3 win over Texas Tech. He also forced a fumble to go with a fumble recovery and tackle for a loss in a 17-7 victory at Baylor.
Also a first-team All-MWC pick in 2005, Blake was a Sophomore All-American last season. He earned Freshman All-America honors in 2004.
Blake has 133 tackles in his career with 33.5 for a loss. Included in that total are 17 sacks.
