COLUMBUS, Ohio - TCU's Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska increased their record to a spectacular 11-1 in the fall season and moved one step closer to claiming the program's first ever doubles national championship Saturday morning.
"I am really proud of Ana and Anna's effort and consistency," first-year interim head coach Jefferson Hammond said. "They have played with a lot of focus and passion. We look forward to the national championship match Sunday morning . . . it should be very exciting."
The pair, ranked No. 24 in the country, rolled to an 8-3 win over eighth-ranked Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk of Kentucky in the semi-finals match of the 2006 ITA National Indoor Collegiate Championships.
Cetnik and Sydorska will face William & Mary's Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zorcic (ranked No. 22 nationally) in the national championship match. The match can be heard worldwide at RadioTennis.com beginning at 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
Neither duo in this year's national doubles championship match has ever reached the finals.
Cetnik and Sydorska have rolled through competition at the national championship, picking up victories over the No. 1 team (8-3), No. 29 pair (8-4) and the No. 8 duo in the nation (8-3).
