FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU Head Coach Bill Montigel has announced that three golfers have signed National Letters of Intent to play golf for the Horned Frogs. Tom Hoge, Klinton Krieger and Ben Murray will enter TCU in the fall of 2007.
Hoge, who played in the 2006 U.S. Amateur and missed advancing to the match play by just three strokes, also qualified for the 2006 Western Amateur. Over the past three years, the native of Fargo, N.D., has five top-15 finishes at American Junior Golf Assocation (AJGA) tournaments. A two-time all-state selection as a prep, he has two top-four finishes at the state tournament and 12 medalist honors to his credit.
Krieger (Cheyenne, Wyo.) was the state champion as a junior in both the fall and spring seasons and won 13 of the 20 events in which he played. Krieger earned a spot in the U.S. Junior Amateur this past summer and was the Wyoming State Junior Amateur champion. He also won the 2005 McDonald's Tournament of Champions in Ridgefield, Tenn., where he missed the tournament scoring record by just one shot.
Murray qualified for both the 2005 U.S. Junior Amateur and the 2005 Western Junior Amateur. The La Quinta, Calif., product was tabbed as a 2004-05 Future World Collegians Tour (FWCT) First-Team All-American as well as a FWCT Academic All-American. Murray, who has a pair of top-20 finishes at AJGA events, also has participated on the winning team in the Hogan Cup.
"I am very excited to have all three players come to TCU," Montigel said. "Each of them has a lot of potential, and if they continue to work hard, they can really help our golf program."
