TCU announces October award recipients

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletics Department announced its monthly student-athlete awards for the month of October on Thursday.
The four monthly categories are Male and Female Athlete of the Month and Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the men's side, Quentily Harmon was named Male Athlete of the Month, while Shae Reagan was tabbed as Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the women's side, Calandra Stewart was named Female Athlete of the Month and Breanne Kaldheim was selected as the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
Harmon, a senior from Jacksonville, Texas, recorded a career-high 105 yards receiving in a 26-3 win over Wyoming
For the month, Harmon totaled 11 receptions for 232 yards (21.1 average) in three games as TCU went 2-1.
On the season, Harmon tops the Frogs with 32 grabs, representing 28.3 percent of TCU's season total. He also ranks fourth in the MWC in receiving yards and sixth in receptions.
Reagan, a sophomore tight end from Idalou, Texas, had a reception in all three of TCU's games for the month.
An education major, Reagan totaled four catches for 109 yards (27.3 average). All four of Reagan's catches resulted in first downs.
Stewart, a senior runner from Houston, Texas, led TCU in both meets in October by placing second at the Mountain West Conference Championships and finishing 14th out of 245 runners at the highly-competitive NCAA Pre-Nationals.
Stewart began the month at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 14 by running a 20:35.5 in the women's 6K. Running on the same course where the NCAA Championships will be held, Stewart's time of 20:35.5 is the second-fastest time in the conference this season.
At the Mountain West Conference Championships on Oct. 28, Stewart ran a 21:10.9 in the women's 6K and placed second out of 64 runners.
On the year, Stewart has paced TCU in all four meets and has three top-four finishes. Stewart placed third at the North Texas Invitational and fourth at the Cowboy Jamboree. Stewart's time in the Cowboy Jamboree ranks first in the conference among times in the 5K at 17:31.
Kaldheim a senior defender from Kingwood, Texas, concluded her career at TCU by making her 60th consecutive start dating back to her freshman year.
For the month, Kaldheim led a defensive unit that had three shutouts, including two straight to conclude the season. TCU's defense only gave up more than two goals in one of eight matches in October.
Kaldheim is a three-time Academic All-Conference selection and was named a Mountain West Scholar Athlete in 2005. A marketing major, Kaldheim holds a 3.93 GPA and will graduate this spring.
For her career Kaldheim has played in 67 matches and made 64 starts, while contributing two assists.
A 2006 Co-Captain with Karissa Hill, Kaldheim started all 18 matches this season, while posting one assist.
