Briefly
Unlike most teams across the country, the TCU Lady Frogs will have to wait one more week until opening the 2006-07 regular season. Head coach Jeff Mittie and staff realized the importance of having their team play against fresh faces, so the coaches loaded up the bus Saturday morning and took the Frogs to Midwestern State in Wichita Falls for a practice game. TCU played against the Mustangs in a scrimmage contest and no statistics or scores were kept.
The Format
The format was a little different than a normal game. The teams played 10-minute quarters with a halftime between the second and third period. They followed the four quarters with two 3-minute periods in order to simulate end of the game situations.
This Week
TCU will practice three days this week before leaving Wednesday for Washington, D.C. After a Thursday practice at the Comcast Center in College Park, Md., the Lady Frogs will face national champion and preseason No. 1 Maryland in the opening round of the 2006 BTI Classic.
Coach Mittie on the scrimmage:
"We're going to have to be more physical than we were today. We were (physical) at times but for the 46 minutes we played it wasn't consistent enough."
On how Midwestern State helped the Lady Frogs
"They had a different offense than what we've seen. We didn't adjust well early, but we did better later on in the scrimmage."
Ashley Davis on the team's performance
"We started off really slow. As a whole we got it together and turned it into a good day overall."
