- Free safety Steven Coleman made his first career start. Tailback Lonta Hobbs and fullback William Jackson made their first starts of the season.
- Hobbs had carries on TCU's first five plays from scrimmage, equaling his total for the season entering the game. After missing the opening three contests with an ankle injury, Hobbs returned to action last week with five carries for 21 yards against BYU.
- Punter Derek Wash made his season debut with a career-long 43-yard kick in the first quarter.
- A 29-yard field goal by Utah's Louie Sakoda in the first quarter marked the fourth time in five games this season that TCU's opponent scored first in the game.
- Jeff Ballard's 36-yard second-quarter completion to Shae Reagan represented TCU's second-longest pass play of the season.
- Hobbs' 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter enabled him to move into sole possession of second place on TCU's career rushing touchdown list with 32. He broke a deadlock with Tony Jeffery (1984-87). LaDainian Tomlinson is the Horned Frogs' all-time leader with 54 (1997-00).
- Hobbs' touchdown was his first score since Oct. 2, 2004 at Army.
- Reagan had two receptions for 48 yards after entering the game with just one career catch for 18 yards, a touchdown earlier this season against UC Davis.
- Brent Hecht's 23-yard third-quarter reception gave him a catch in 10 of the last 11 games.
- Hobbs' 22 rushing attempts were the most by a Frog this season and the highest total for a TCU back since Robert Merrill had 29 carries for 170 yards last year at San Diego State (Oct. 29, 2005).
- Nick Sanders' fourth-quarter interception marked his first career pick.
