Saturday's Practice
The TCU women's basketball team went through two practices Saturday, one in the morning and another afternoon session in front of around 100 people.
"We had a coaching clinic and we've done this every year," said Lady Frog head coach Jeff Mittie in reference to the large crowd. "We had a really good turnout . . . I think somewhere around 100 coaches came out today."
For the second straight day, Mittie stressed his team's lacks of discipline with ball control.
"We are not controlling the ball," he said. "We get people to start playing better and do good things and then we can't control the basketball. We went twice today so I think we came back a little mentally fatigued.
"We weren't sharp today. We're caught in between playing at a fast pace and playing intelligently. We're running faster and competing harder in that regard, but then we don't control the ball and get something out of it."
Eight Days Until Tip-Off
The Lady Frogs are eight days until tipping off their season against Lake Truck Lines (WNBA). Houston Comets longtime assistant Kevin Cook coaches the exhibition team.
The list of professional athletes playing for Lake Truck Lines has not been released as of yet, but Mittie is certain they will be a tough opponent.
"We'll get challenged in that game because that team is going to be very good," he said. "I think our players understand that they are one week away (to tip-off), but I don't think they understand what they need to do to get better."
Quote of the Day
"Super Dave graduates after this season so if anyone is looking to hire a coach, he's a good one." - Associate head coach Larry Tidwell said when introducing team manager Dave Mishler to the audience of people attending the coaching clinic.
