TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Competing in its final regular-season meet of the season, the TCU women's cross country team finished 29th at the highly-competitive NCAA Pre-Nationals meet held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course on Saturday.
Competing at the same course that the NCAA Championships are held, TCU accumulated 684 points to finish 29th out of 36 teams in the women's 6,000-meter blue race.
Leading the Horned Frogs individually was Calandra Stewart, who paced TCU for the third straight meet with a time of 20:36 and 14th-place finish.
"As a team I think we were just intimidated by the field," head coach Eric Heins said. "Individually, I was very happy with how Calandra Stewart ran.
"Calandra knows this is her last season, so she is always mentally and physically prepared. She knows where the other runners are going to be at and she paces herself accordingly. I am very happy with the way she has competed this season."
Finishing second for the Horned Frogs was Carlene Mayfield, who finished 113th overall with a time of 21:46. Placing third among TCU runners was McKale Davis, who ran a 22:24 to finish 177th.
The fourth TCU runner to cross the line was Cassie Hostick, who finished in a time of 22:32 and placed 183rd. Danielle Selner earned TCU's last scoring position by finishing 197th with a time of 22:43.
Also competing for TCU were Ashley Young and Lisa Baity, who finished with a time of 22:57 and 22:59, respectively.
Stanford won the team title with 45 points. Individually, Wake Forest's Michelle Sikes won the meet in a time of 20:17.
TCU will compete next at the Mountain West Conference Championships on Oct. 28.
